Womens Fashions and Outfits Men Hate and Clothes Guys Don't Want Girls to Wear

YES - What Men Like
So What Ladies Fashions Don't Men Like?
Girls, do you ever wonder what men like you to wear? Well here is a guide for women who want men to appreciate how you look and need to know what clothes will delight a guy.
On the other hand, if you want to put a man off, then here are some tips for a wardrobe that should get rid of any unwanted male admirers!
I appreciate that many of the clothing styles mentioned here exist mainly on the catwalk and are rarely seen in the high street or at the local mall being worn 'real' women.
Incidentally, why is it that the so called ‘fashion world’, inhabited by fashion writers, designers, celebrities and the rich and wealthy, create a whole raft and designs, colours and textures that no real woman wants to wear or could ever afford?
Come to think of it, why do most fashion models not look remotely like real, normal women? It’s a mystery to me but anyway, lets get back back to that men-friendly fashion collection.
The information here is obviously subjective but is based on a number of surveys of male opinion such as one conducted by MSN in 2010.
Ditch the Dungarees, Jumpsuits and Harem Pants
Generally men don’t like baggy shapeless clothes. We like women to have a figure of some sort. To go in at the waist, have hips and a butt or bum and also breasts. (Yes, it make surprise you to know that men like breasts).
Dungarees and Jumpsuits are therefore the first items to go in the Recycling Bin of Taste. While we are at it, those dreadful Harem Pants can go too. Do tear them up before they go in the bin so no one else can wear them!
Men, when not staring at breasts, also like ladies legs. They don’t have to be perfect legs. We like tights but we like stockings even more.
Particularly if they are supported by a garter belt, suspender belt or suspenders attached to some other garment such as a corset.
Conversely, Men are not keen on Leggings. A baggy tee shirt with leggings is particularly off putting. Jeggings, an evil cross between jeans and leggings, are even worse!

Knee Socks, Gladiator Sandals and Ugg Boots - Ugg!
Moving down the female leg, Gladiator Sandals are unwelcome as are the aptly named Ugg Boots (where do you think the name came from?).
Some of those Uggs look like the wearer trod on an unfortunate pair of small mammals and then left the corpses on their feet.
Although we do love grown up stockings, we find female socks off putting. Particularly Over the Knee Socks.
There is something not quite right about it. It’s a bit like grown up women wearing school uniform. OK in the bedroom but not in public.
Men
generally don’t like women to wear Too Much Make Up (a particular sin of
some women in the USA). Also, men don’t tend to like
really bright colours. Neon colours and girlie
pink are particularly unpopular with males. However, men tend to be attracted to girls wearing bright Red,

Tassels, Tattooed Ladies and Tuxedos
Most men, not all, are really put off by all but the smallest girl Tattoos. Men who don’t wear tattoos and men that do are united in their concern that so many women now have great tapestries of black and multicoloured inks on backs, butts and breasts.
What about jackets? Well we don’t much like women in Tuxedos. Fringes on clothes generally are a no no. While your at it, ditch the handbag with a hundred Tassels dragging on the ground.
Another massive turn off is the jacket that gives you the Furry Look like an inhabitant of Second Life. If you’re not sure what I mean, go to Second Life (it’s a virtual world so don’t expect a Sat Nav reference).
Fly around or teleport until you find someone, ie an Avatar, and 10 to 1 they will be wearing a hideous furry costume. That’s because in the real world furry people are not welcomed so most of them have relocated to cyber space!
Don't get me started on Furry Boots. They look particularly unpleasent on catwalk models with ultra thin legs. See below for a typical example from Channel.

Keep it Simple, Shapely and Feminine
What else? Really Big Sunglasses. Men are simple souls and are really attracted to a girl who smiles a lot and have lovely eyes. Big sun glasses conceal the smile and the eyes.
Guys are also generally more conservative (with a small ‘c’) that their female sisters. We don’t like too many accessories and other adornments. We like simple plain fabrics that don’t detract from the inner and outer beauty of the female wearer.
Lets finish on a positive note. Ladies Belts
(not too fancy) are much appreciated by guys if only because they accentuate the wearers figure. Generally keep your look Simple, Shapely and Feminine
Here's hoping that if you're a woman and have read this far, nothing here has offended you.
If it has then share your rage via a comment below. Men, if you adore your girlfriend's harem pants or her cute dungarees and the love of your life is a tattooed lady, then tell us what you think.
If I've missed anything else that women wear and you hate then just let me know!

I've always been told that women dress to impress other women rather than men.
Vivenda - not sure you are wearing a costume so it doesn't really count. I think you know all about nuts and are very cute!
Dahoglund - good point. Thats probably why some of the clothes they wear seem strange to men!
Thanks for the great style tips, Rick. Gotta say, I could not agree more about the tattoos. I saw a young girl a while back. She was maybe fifteen. She had her boyfriend's name tattooed on her neck! How crazy is that? He will be gone in a matter of weeks but she will be stuck with the ink forever. Great hub!
Quite right poetvix - young men have been tattooing their first girl friend's name on their bodies for years - Its a shame girls are now repeating the same mistake!
Great Hub. I agree with the tattoos also. They do not look classy at all. I have heard that men don't like leggings. What is your take on pencil skirts?
mysisters - personally I like them. They are flattering. By the way, thanks for stopping by!
Rik, you hit the nail on the head with this one! I wear a lot of these trends you mentioned. (Except the tattoos) But, I never dress for men only for myself!
Rated up!
yenajeon - Fair point. After all how many men bother to dress to please women? Thanks for your input!
nicely cover man
Informative hub,thanks for sharing.
Topmodel and crystolite, thanks for stopping by and glad you enjoyed!
all of these female fashion trends hated by men are also hated by me. wooo
Thanks for the support, rachel!
I may not be very observant about clothing styles. But I've never noticed women wearing Ugg boots or those hideous furry things here in California. Are they mainly British aberrations?
My pet peeve in women's fashion is low-rider jeans. Yes, for slender, physically fit young women, they're a good way to accentuate toned abs.
But what about not-so-slender women? For this male at least, Muffin Tops are a huge turn-off.
Plumbers Butt is a secondary issue with low-rider jeans. Call me provincial, but I prefer that women's bums be either completely covered, or completely uncovered.
Great photos!
Larry - Yes I think Ugg boots are more popular in colder climates. I'm with you on the muffin tops and plumber's butts. Glad you enjoyed!
Rik, I agree, great topic here. I fully agree with your take on what men like and don't like women to wear. But I'd like to add another take on womens dress and I'd be very interested in seeing the takes others, men and women have on it.
That is I've now been married three times, and I hvae purchased for my wives various articles of clothing ranging from lingerie to coats. I think most of what I bought was very classy. The lingerie for example I think was classy (somewhat sexy) including a Farr West full length silk slip which I saw one time to a full length leather coat that was probably the only item I ever saw worn more that once, and everything in between.
My conclusion, women really don't care what men think about what they wear!
Comments please!
Great to see that the tatse presented by fashions magazines is not alwayd the most appreciated taste. One item I'm missing is the legging, formerly known as Long John. Whomever told women such would be nice ought to receive a life sentence.
luvthefeel: I think you have a point - women rarely wear a gift just to please the male buyer. Also women tend to wear what they like and often dress to impress other women rather than men!
John N:You are definately right about leggings!
It just occurred to me that the 4th photo may not be furry boots, after all. It may be the two women forgot to shave their lower legs and feet that day!
What a horrible thought Larry!
My wife is currently 36 weeks pregnant and anything that accentuates her huge baby bump I find sexy.
Very informative article, Thanks for this.
Informative hub Rik. I think the right woman can look good in most things. A tall slim woman can look absolutely stunning in jumpsuits. And I quite like Harem Pants on a girl too.
We had a phase previously where women went out on the town in balerina tutui's and frankly if Carrie Bagshaw looks like a sack of potatoes in one it's not even worth trying!
Plus I quite live Blake Lively in the gladiator sandals. However not the dress which makes her look pregant!
From my experience women only ask what you think of their clothes if they would actually like your opinion too!
So, basically, don't be quirky, don't dress to please yourself, and be as mainstream as possible or guys will automatically be repulsed by you?
I HOPE that any guy that superficial IS repulsed by me. I'd be equally repulsed by him. I like my Ugg Boots, I love overalls, I love crazy, fun-colored knee-high socks, and I hate garters, clothing that's too form-fitting, and anything that shows off my breasts to someone who has no business looking at them. Oh, and I also LOVE over-sized sunglasses. I think I'll stick with what I like.
Lauren, you've made some good points here. I actually agree with you that women should dress to please themselves and not just to pander to men!
Lauren: Hey, I dress to please myself too LOL, i think most people these days just lack backbone in the sense that they are constantly trying to seek approval of the opposite sex. Go on any gender and relationship forum and you will find people asking things like, "What do women find attractive on men"? To which I say, "How about growing a bit of backbone, and stop doing things for the approval of people?!" If you're a dude and feel like wearing a skirt, then WEAR IT! If you feel like painting your nails and/growing long hair, then DO IT! People these days seem to act and dress solely for the approval of the opposite sex; it's pathetic! Not that there's anything wrong with Rik expressing his opinion either; he is simply saying that he does not find a particular type of fashion attractive, just as some women don't find glasses attractive on men and vice versa. It doesn't make him a patriarchal objectifying douche. But maybe he could have said, women's fashion that "some" men hate, so as to clarify that every man has a different "taste", so to speak, and that his taste does not represent that of all men.
ps: I think the jump suit looks nice, seriously
I always dress how i want to if you dont like it then dont look at me and if my guy dont like how i dress then he dont get me then girls should never change for a guy!!! JUST SAYING PS:I like the jump suit too BereniceTeh90
Whoever wrote this was clearly an immature, arrogant male with no concept of fashion. Even worse, he seems to believe that women's clothes should be designed to please men! Clothes should be more about self-expression, art, and liberation. Thanks for reminding me why I'm a lesbian.
CamoGirl: Yea, I can't understand why people say jumpsuits are fugly!!! But to each is own, right? Everyone has his or her own personal taste! Rik's taste only represents one man out of the many millions of men in the world; even me and my other straight man friends have different ideas about what we find physically attractive, cuz taste is subjective. Just bcuz i find something attractive on a chic and my friend doesn't and vice versa doesn't mean either of us is right or wrong. Just like some people like apples, some prefer oranges n vice versa.
LitaKinochan: He didn't phrase it properly; I also initially got the impression that this article was written patriarchal douche. But then i realized he's just expressing his opinion. Maybe if he'd said, women's fashions that SOME men hate then it wouldn't come across as so offensive. Honestly, I can't understand why people try to give other people fashion advice when they don't even ask for it! (sorry Rik) It's the most pointless way to make enemies..
Bernice, Camo and Lita - I do respect your opinions and recognise that clothes express who you are. Some people can look fabulous in clothes that would look ridiculous on someone else. This article is slightly tongue in cheek. As Bernice says, I'm not a patriarchal douche (my wife might disagree!)
I would like to see a similar post on how men think about purses that women carry around (especially those big honking ones with lots of studs and buckles and other hardwares).
Huge generalization that guys don't like tattoos. Ignorant.

So, how do you feel about sexy white fur coats and long, sinuous tails to match? Are you nuts about them?
